Silvassa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli:

A political storm is brewing in Dadra & Nagar Haveli after several nomination forms for the upcoming Panchayat elections were rejected. Local Congress leaders, including Prabhu Tokiya, have alleged that the rejection process was arbitrary and unfair, demanding action against the officials responsible — particularly Collector Priyank Kishor, who is being accused of bias in the election process.

In a stern address to supporters, Tokiya declared that they have formally reported all irregularities to the Election Commission of India, naming the Returning Officers and other officials allegedly involved.

  • “The Collector should be suspended. We have informed the Election Commission about every irregularity that has occurred during this election process. We will not tolerate such misuse of power,” Tokiya said.

The leaders emphasized their commitment to law and the Constitution, insisting that they will continue their fight through legal and democratic means rather than public disorder.

  • “We are people who respect the Constitution. Even if they do not, we will fight our battle legally — from the High Court to the Supreme Court. Senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal have assured full legal support,” they added.

A press conference at 3 PM was announced, where the Congress team plans to detail their next steps and legal strategy. They urged all members and citizens to maintain peace and avoid any activities that could disturb law and order.

  • “Silvassa is our home. We must not let anyone destroy peace here. The officials who tried to deny our fundamental right to vote will face legal consequences. We will fight democratically — not violently,” Tokiya affirmed.

The protests highlight growing concerns about transparency and fairness in the local electoral process, with increasing demands for accountability from the administration.
